- Listen to our interview (in Spanish) with Pedro Biaggi on CBS Radio/Radio Zol 99.1 FM.
- Isabella & Ferdinand is honored to have become a member of the New York branch of Instituto Cervantes. The Instituto Cervantes is the pre-eminent authority on the Spanish language. We will be collaborating in a number of ways with the institute, including drawing on their resources such as books and educational materials and engaging in exchanges on Spanish curricula and teaching methods for children.
- This summer, we enjoyed having students participate in our weekly classes as well as in two half-day Spanish immersion camps, Castilian Capers for 3-5 year olds and Cervantes in the Park for 6-11 year olds. Castilian Capers campers played Spanish games in Palisades Park, sang songs, engaged in fun art projects and sampled a different snack from Spain or Latin America each day. Cervantes in the Park campers learned and acted out a scene from Lope de Vega’s famous play, “La Dama Boba”.
- Stay tuned for a children’s music CD with many of your favorite Isabella & Ferdinand songs! The record, which will be out in late fall, is being produced by our very own Francisco (Fran) Revert and will feature some of our gifted students singing in Spanish.
- We have received some wonderful feedback from our parents regarding our program. Here are some of their comments:
"Isabella & Ferdinand has proven to be a wonderful cultural and linguistic experience for my children. The program is terrific for children with and without a Spanish-language background, and expands a child's world through cultural activities---both in the classroom, as well as the many organized activities outside the classroom!"
-Saskia Rothrock, Parent
"My child is intrigued and stimulated by this immersion program. She absolutely loves her Spanish class!" -Patricia Klick, Parent
"Isabella and Ferdinand is a charming program that draws an international crowd. The small class size ensures the toddlers are well engaged. My 15 month old gets a real kick out of the music and activity...and so do I!"
-Meghan Roman, Parent."
"I wanted to tell you how delighted we are with Isabella and Ferdinand. Spanish is my first language, and my husband and I vowed that we would raise our children in a bilingual household, which we are doing. We were struggling, however, to find a bilingual program to support our 3-year-old's burgeoning language capacity and were so happy to have found your program. Lucas just loves it! He felt immediately comfortable with the setting and the teachers, and comes home singing the songs he's learned--totalmente en Español, por supuesto! Isabella & Ferdinand's focus on the cultural aspect of learning a language is truly what sets it apart from other language programs. Thank you for being there when we needed you!"
-Jessica Springsteen, Parent
"The Spanish immersion classes at Isabella & Ferdinand are enjoyable, entertaining and culturally educational. In addition to learning another language at a young age, the program provides for a challenging yet fun environment to grow and learn. We especially love how you incorporate the extracurricular cultural activities with the learning of the language. The overall energy and dedication you bring to program is amazing."
